Supported Wild Horse Organizations
$4 from every sale of 1-lb coffee from our Heartful Roasts collection is donated to your choice of one of the following four charities, in their own words:
American Wild Horse Foundation
At the American Wild Horse Foundation, our Mission is to create a responsible and sustainable model that will preserve wild horses for generations to come. Inherent in our Mission is our belief that the magnificence and wonder of our wild horses belongs to all Americans. Each of us should have the ability to access, learn about and interact with our national treasure. Moreover, we suspect that every American may find that their own cultural heritage is carried in a wild horse herd roaming free on America’s range.
Wild Horses of America Foundation
The Wild Horses of America Foundation was established in 2001 as a 501(c)3 charity with the goal of bettering the lives of America’s wild horses and burros.
When we started there were 10,000 horses and burros that had been removed from their native ranges and were being held in BLM facilities and pastures. Today, with approximately 61,000 in corrals and pastures (as of October 2023), our work focuses on keeping America’s wild horses and burros on the range.
Since 2015 we have partnered with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to treat the Onaqui Mountain Herd with contraception. Our work has been successful, and the herd’s reproductive rate has been reduced to about 5% per year. (Wild horse herds typically reproduce at a 15-20% rate, which means any given herd can double in size every 4-5 years.)
Your support is crucial to sustain this humane approach and extend similar programs to other herds. Join us in ensuring the best quality of life for America’s wild horses and burros.
Salt River Wild Horse Management Group (Alpine Wild Horse Fund)
Our goal is and always has been freedom, protection and humane management of this treasured historic and recreational resource. Please join us in this important mission.
We have had a steady daily presence in the Tonto National Forest where the Salt River wild horses reside for many years. We have monitored and have been keeping records for each horse and record each change within the herd. Our many years of data have created a scientific perspective on their herd behavior, birth and death rates and migrating patterns.
We deal with any and all situations that involve a wild horse. We operate an emergency hotline (480-868-9301 ) and we can have our people on scene within 15 minutes of any emergent situation.
Return to Freedom Wild Horse Conservation
Return to Freedom is dedicated to preserving the freedom, diversity, and habitat of America’s wild horses and burros through sanctuary, education, advocacy, and conservation, while enriching the human spirit through direct experience with the natural world.
